Dungeon Sookuma
A traditional turn-based roguelike where a baby bear descends into a dream dungeon, bargains with 19 gods, and steals the Dream Crystal.
About this build
We are Plants Game, a husband-and-wife indie team in Korea. We are building Dungeon Sookuma, a traditional turn-based roguelike made in Unity with C#. Sookuma is a baby bear. In the game, players combine 14 Sookuma lineages with 19 classes and descend into an ever-changing dream dungeon. You identify strange items, bargain with 19 gods, steal the Dream Crystal, and fight your way back out. Every step is a turn, and potions, scrolls, and wands are unidentified and reshuffled between dreams. We made this game for people who like classic turn-based roguelikes.
The game came together with AI coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex, and Grok workers, writing most of the game code, procedural dungeon systems, UI, tile rendering, and audio synthesis under our direction and review. What was weird and hard was that git history cannot show who wrote what because the agents commit under the owner's git identity. Claude co-author trailers appear on only 248 of 7,015 commits, which is merely a lower bound, while our dispatch records hold 1,129 agent tasks for the project.
All in-game pixel art was drawn pixel by pixel by AI agents writing ASCII literals, which were then rendered by a deterministic kit that forbids image-model pixels. The eight bosses and named monsters used AI concept images as underlays or references, and we approved or rejected each sheet. In line with our Steam disclosure, large illustrations, cut-ins, portraits, and intro videos were made with AI image and video models. Background music and sound-effect files were created with AI tools, while other sounds were synthesized by AI-written code. Most in-game text was written or drafted by AI, and English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese translations were done by AI. Nothing is generated by AI at runtime.
A free demo of Dungeon Sookuma is on Steam for Windows and macOS.
