BLR Daily
A Bengaluru paper that an agent builds every morning: what is on today, each pick with a time, a price and a booking link.
About this build
BLR Daily is a free one-page paper for Bengaluru at blrdaily.com/today. A scheduled job on a Mac at home starts Claude Code each morning with a written brief. It reads public event listings and city news, writes the picks into a JSON file, and a Python script renders the page.
Before anything goes out, the script checks the page. Every pick needs a time, an area and a link that answers, and at least six picks must start that day. At 9 am IST it publishes to the site and a WhatsApp channel. blrdaily.com/this-weekend covers Friday to Sunday.
It launched on 13 October 2026.
Lessons learned
Most misses came from the machine around the agent. A reboot left the Mac asleep and offline, so the login expired and two editions were lost. Later a test hung on a folder that background jobs may not read, and it blocked the next build too.
The fixes were plain. A 5 minute timeout on the step that hung. A build that notices missed days and folds them into the next edition. An alert path tested under the same scheduler that runs the job. And a ticket site that blocks bots is not a source.
Advice to others
Test the scheduled job the way the scheduler runs it, not from your own terminal. Write the checks before the second edition, and let a failed check stop the publish instead of shipping a half page.
